According to official figures, Turkey's exports in 2021 have already reached the highest figures since the constitution of the Republic.
On July 1, at a press conference of the Ministry of Commerce, together with the Association of Turkish Exporters, the latest official data on the country's exports were made public. In this sense, the volume of exports in the first half of 2021 has increased by 40% compared to 2020, reaching around 16.6 billion euros and exceeding the objective set for 2022.
Monthly and quarterly figures have also broken records. Specifically, in the month of June exports have increased by 47% compared to the same period in 2020. With the progressive return to normality, economic and commercial activity has grown considerably. In fact, in the first half of 2021 the number of exporting companies has grown by 12% to a total of 76,189.
Turkey's main trading partner Ecuador Mobile Number List continues to be the European Union, being the destination of some 40 billion euros in goods, representing an increase of 42% in the first half of the year compared to 2020. This is mainly due to the rise in the cost of freight from China, because although Chinese products continue to be more competitive in price than products of Turkish origin, the cost of transportation from one origin to another compensates. Furthermore, the shock that supply chains experienced in 2020 highlighted the drawbacks of dependence on few suppliers and a single geographical origin.
All of the above has led many companies, mainly in Europe and the Middle East, to diversify their suppliers, making Turkey an interesting option.
The main sectors of exports to the EU during the first half of the year were automotive (8,000 million), textiles (5,000 million), chemicals (4,000 million) and steel (2,800 million). Within the EU, Germany stands out as the main customer, with 1.3 billion, an increase of 33.2%.
On the other hand, sales to Middle Eastern countries increased by 19.5% last month to 2.6 billion euros, while exports to the African continent increased by 59.3% to 1.5 billion.
An interesting sector for Turkey is undoubtedly construction materials, where in terms of exports the country has already risen to ninth place in 2020, with around 18 billion euros exported in 2020.
